ECC stands for ERP Central Component.

ECC is the next version of SAP R/3 Software.

5. What is workflow?

• A routing tool in SAP that Automates a particular task or a series of tasks and involves people where we were needed.
• Workflow can be used for forwarding documents for review or approval.
• For example, a requisition that needs to be approved is sent to the appropriate approver’s inbox. Workflow is also used to route journal vouchers, credit card charges, and other documents in SAP.

7. What is R/3?

Real time, Three Tier Architecture

Real time: A live system that does processing and providing the data with in No time.

Three tiers:  (1) Database Tier

(2) Application Tier

(3) Presentation Tier

8. What is SAP Dispatcher? Functionality?

• SAP dispatcher is the control agent which manages the resources for the R/3 applications.
• Equal distribution of transaction load to the work processes.
• Management of buffer areas in main memory
• Integration of the presentation levels.
• Organization of communication activities.

9. What is a work process?

A work process is where individual dialog steps are actually processed and the work is done. Each work process handles one type of request.

10. Name various work processes of R/3 system.

• Dialog or process (processes only one request at a time)
• Background (started at a specified time)
• Update (primary or secondary)
• Enque (lock mechanism)
• Spool (generated online or during background processing for printing)

1. What is Linux?

• Linux is an open-source operating system inspired by UNIX.
• It was first introduces by Linux Torvalds.
• Linux is just a Kernel and a Linux distribution makes it a usable operating systems.
• It’s the preferred OS for computers, servers, mainframes, mobile deveices and embedded devices.

2. How different is LINUX when compared with UNIX?

• Unix is a propriety operating system from Bell laboratories.

The open group holds the Unix Trademark & manage the Unix trademark licensing program.

Companies have their own licensed UNIX: IBM(AIX), Solaris(sun OS), HP(HP-UX), Apple(OSX)…

• Linux is free, open-source and intended as a non-propriety operating system for the masses.

Linux is a clone of unix, written from scratch by Linux Tornalds & his team.

3. What is the importance of GNU project?

• GNU project is a result of the Free Software Movement started by Richard Stallman.
• It supported the open-source & collaborated development of operating system software.
• Acronym of GNU is “GNU is not UNIX”.
• GNU project was intended to create a UNIX-like OS, but free & open –source.
• This lead to the birth of Linux OS – Linux Kernel + Utilities

4. What is Linux Kernel?

• The Linux Kernel is a low-level systems software whose main role is to manage hardware resources for the user.
• It is the core of any OS & it is responsible for translating the user commands into equivalent language understood by the computer hardware.

5. What is Shell?

SHELL

• Shell is the program that takes commands from the keyboard and passes them to the operating system (kernel) for performing.
• During the initial days, Shell was the only mode for communicating with kernel (via the CLI).

6. What is Bash?

BASH

• Bash is short for Bourne Again Shell. It’s a replacement to the original shell (/bin/sh).
• BASH combines the features of the original shell + additional functionality to make it easier and more convenient to use.
• Nowadays, BASH has been adopted as the default shell for most linux systems.

7. Explain the functionality of root user.

• The root user is similar to a superuser or syatem administrator.
• Root user (superuser) has ultimate control and access to all files/directories in the system. Examples: creating and maintaining user accounts, assigning different permissions for each account, etc.
• Another advantage: restricted programs can be executed from the terminal by using the root account.
• Root is the default account every time Linux is installed.

8. What is CLI?

• CLI stands for command line interface. This interface allows user to type declarative commands to instruct the computer to perform operations.
• Linux CLI is called Terminal and the commands will be interpreted by the Shell. Preferred by developers/programmers.
• Advantage: multiple steps can be executed by specifying a single command.

9. What is GUI?

• GUI stands for graphical user interface and makes the system attractive.
• Users would find it difficult to remember commands, can use the GUI.
• GUI allows the users to navigate/access files by clicking on images and icons.

10. What is Swap Space?

Swap space is certain amount of space used by Linux to temporarily hold active programs.

This happens when RAM does not have enough memory to hold all programs that are being executed.

Swap space is defined in File system.

1. What is cloud computing?

It is the use of servers on the internet to “store”, “manage” and “process” data. The difference is instead of using your own servers, you are using someone else’s servers to do task, paying them for the amount of time you use it for.

2. What are the different types of services offered in the cloud?

• IaaS : infrastructure as a service, you get the raw hardware from your cloud provider as a service i.e., you get a server which you can configure with your own qill.
• PaaS : platform as a service, gives you a platform to publish without giving the access to the underlying software or OS. For example : web apps, mobile apps in azure.
• SaaS : you get software as a service in azure i.e., no infrastructure, no platform, simple software that you can use without purchasing it. For example : when you launch a VM on azure, if we talk about the OS, you are not buying the OS, you are basically renting it for the time you will be running that instance.

3. What are the different cloud deployment models?

Following are the three cloud deployment models:

• Public cloud
• Private cloud
• Hybrid cloud

4. What is the use of roles in Microsoft Azure?

Roles are nothing servers in layman terms. These servers are managed, load balanced, Platform as a service virtual machines that work together to achieve a common goal.

There are three types of roles in Microsoft Azure:

• Web role
• Worker role
• VM role

5. Is it possible to create virtual machine using Azure Resource Manager in a virtual network that was created using classic deployment?

This is not supported. You cannot use Azure Resource Manager to deploy a virtual machine into a virtual network that was created using classic deployment.

6. What are virtual machine scale sets in Azure?

Virtual machine scale sets are an Azure compute resource that you can use to deploy and manage a set of identical VMs. With all VM configured the same, scale sets are designed to support true autoscale, and no pre-provisioning of  VMs required. So, it’s easier to build large scale services that target big compute, big data, and containerized workloads.

7. Are data disks supported within scale sets?

Yes. A scale set can be defined as an attachment data disks configuration that applies to all VMs in the set. Other options for storing data includes:

• Azure files (SMB shared drives)
• OS drive
• Temp drive (local, not backed by Azure Storage)
• Azure Data service (for example, azure tables, azure blobs)
• External data service (for example, remote database)
